Music & Stories from World War II
My name is Caleb Schneider, and I’m 14 years old. I have been interested in WWII History since I was nine years old. I started watching WWII Documentaries and focused heavily on the WWII Aircraft. I was so interested in them that I started taking flying lessons at a local flight school. By the time I was ten years old, I had accumulated the required number of flight hours to get my pilot’s license, and now I have almost twice the required flight hours, even though I can’t get my license until I turn 17 years old. I have paused flight lessons for the time being to focus on my online radio station and my work with WWII Veterans.
In February 2024, I started an online radio station called G.I. Jive Radio that focuses on WWII Music and WWII History. It was a lot of hard work, but it was well worth it because it’s very popular now with thousands of listeners every month. I utilize the radio station to keep WWII Music and WWII History alive and to help support my work with WWII Veterans. Last Christmas, my listeners raised over $1,100.00 in less than six hours to purchase a local WWII Veteran a new sofa he badly needed. They also regularly donate to my Lunch with Veterans program that allows me to take the WWII Veterans out to lunch, and to get them together to visit with each other.
In 2025, I was nominated and chosen to receive the Billy Michael Student Leadership Award by the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. Only one student per state is chosen, and I represented the State of Georgia.
In 2026, I was chosen as the very first High School Youth Ambassador for Tours of Duty. I will receive forensic anthropology training and deploy on missions with Tours of Duty to locate, recover, and bring home WWII MIA service members in France, Germany, and Italy. I will also be traveling with Tours of Duty to Normandy, France for the 82nd Anniversary of D-Day.
I’m currently employed part-time as an Archivist Technician with the Camp Forrest Foundation. I’m a member of the Atlanta WWII History Round Table, Eighth Air Force Historical Society Georgia Chapter, and Winston Churchill Society of Georgia. I also regularly volunteer at Camp Toccoa at Currahee and volunteer yearly at the Flags for the Fallen event at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force.
Please consider making a donation to support my travel expenses and support for our WWII Veterans.
Thank you,
Caleb R. Schneider
